In person office sessions are the preferred method of working together. However, that is not always possible for various reasons, especially now during COVID. Lori currently offers video session for select individuals. Accessing therapy by video has many benefits, but also some drawbacks. Please consider the following:
Your environment; do you have a private space that you can use uninterrupted for an hour?
The complexity of the issues: Video provides less personal connection than in-person, making it more difficult for a therapist to use her physical presence to help clients regulate their emotions or stay grounded. For these reasons, some things are not recommended for video sessions:
high risk situations, including active thoughts of suicide or harming others, domestic violence, child welfare concerns or self harm
serious psychiatric conditions that are not stable
multiple people in a session (ie: relationship or family therapy)
If you would like to consider individual therapy via video, please contact Lori for a free 15 minute consultation to see if you would work well together!
